A Pen Pal for Max

I really like children's storybooks. I especially love the different styles of illustrations. We go to the library and pick up a dozen or so new books every week.

A Pen Pal for Max by Gloria Rand and illustrated by Ted Rand.

In reading the reviews for this book on Amazon I saw this: "the farm scenes are too idyllic, everyone always smiling and kind." I had thought the same thing while reading the books. I couldn't imagine that South American farmworkers would be so happy. But the watercolor illustartions are very nice. Plus I especially like storybooks set in other countries because I hope to increase my children's awareness of other cultures.
